Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO world heritage site that situated in South-Western Uganda in three districts Kanungu, Kabale and Kisoro. Bwindi Forest National Park is the leading tourism destination in Uganda which covers approximately 327 km² on the edge of the western Great Rift Valley along the Democratic Republic of Congo border next to the Virunga National Park and on the edge of the western Great Rift Valley. Bwindi Forest National Park is a home to over half of the world’s 900 mountain gorillas – the rest live in the neighboring Virunga Ranges, Mgahinga National Park in Uganda.

Home to several primates and they include mountain gorillas, black and white Colobus (Colobus guereza) and the rare L’Hoests’ monkeys, blue monkeys, elephant, red-tailed monkeys, baboons (Papio Anubis) and chimpanzees. With over 350 unique forest birds species.

Best time to visit Bwindi impenetrable National Park.

The best to visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park can be done all year around for gorilla trekking. However drier months from June to August and December to February are recommended. There is less rain during this time making gorilla trekking easier. March to April and September to November are usually very wet months thus making Gorilla trekking challenging &difficult.

How to get to Bwindi Forest National Park

By road Bwindi Forest National Park is 520 Kilometers from Kampala of about 8 to 9hours’ drive time of scenic drive.
By flight, it only takes 2hrs from Entebbe International Airport to Kisoro airstrip –South of Bwindi or to Kihihi Airstrip –North of Bwindi Forest National Park. The flight is ideal and saves time.
