Tucked into the corner of Uganda’s border with Sudan and Kenya, The park offers breathtaking Savannah landscapes, which end in rugged horizon. Kidepo Valley National Park boasts of the best scenery of all the Parks within East African and it consists of sensational mountain and savannah rugged landscapes.
Kidepo Valley National Park has endowed with numerous attractions including bat -eared fox, striped hyena, aardwolf, Ostrich, lion, cheaters and among others animals including the best biggest herd of buffalo within East African National Parks and birdlife species.

Game Drive in Kidepo Valley National Park
Venture through the park on a game drive in the open Savannah. The game viewing safari offers you over 80 mammal species and 28 of the mammal species are endemic to only the Karamoja region in Uganda. Game viewing in gives you an opportunity to see the big game such as lion, Leopard, African Buffalo, Rothschild Giraffes, the Impala, Eland, Jackson’s Hartebeest, the Cheetah, Topis, Burchell’s Zebra, the Roan Antelope, Oribis, Kobs, Water bucks, Bushbucks, Warthogs, Spotted Hyena etc.
Guided Nature walks in the Park
Get connected to every breathe. Explore the beautiful dramatically landscape of the Park on a guided bush walk. Ostrich trail in Northern side of the Park, River Kidepo trail and among other trail which starches beyond your imagination of your wildlife.
Visit Sand bed along River Kidepo.
Kidepo River is an intermittent sand river found in the northern part of the Park. It stands out because it is lined by Borassus palms, making it look like an oasis in the Sahara. The sand bed experience on River Kidepo can be found around this area and one can enjoy the wilderness experience while listening to the different bird calls.
Visit the Ik people.
The mountain slopes are home to the IK people, the smallest ethnic group in Uganda, with their own unique culture. Visit the Ik people to share and learn their lifestyle.
Bird Watching in the Park

Best time to visit Kidepo National Park
The best time to visit Kidepo Valley National Park is all year round, located in a semi-arid region and it’s mostly visited during the dry season. The dry season is in June, July, August, mid-September and December, January and February. This is the best time to do game viewing and sighting.

How to get to Kidepo National Park
By Road, 705km journey from Kampala via Lira, Kotido. Kaabong and then to Kidepo Valley National Park. Alternatively the 740km journey from Kampala via Mbale, Soroti, Moroto to Kidepo. One will need a good 4X4 vehicle especially during the rainy season.
By flight from Entebbe International Airport to Apoka airstrip, this only takes 2hrs taking on every Wednesday, Friday and Sundays -3 times a week.
