Murchison Falls National Park is home to an abundant array of unique and captivating wildlife. Murchison Falls National Park is the Uganda’s largest and the oldest National Park situated in North West of Uganda in Bulisa and Nwoya district. Covering an area of about 5072 square kilometers that combined with the contiguous Karuma and Bugungu wildlife reserves.

Bisected in to two by Victoria Nile where the waters of the Nile flow through a narrow gorge only 7 metres (23 feet) wide before plunging 43 metres (141 feet). The park is holds over 76 species of mammals in the park including huge herds of buffaloes, elephants, leopards, lions, giraffes, Jackson’s hartebeest, bushbucks, jackals, Uganda Kob, waterbucks and warthogs. The primates in Budongo forest host over 800 chimpanzees living in Kaniyo Pabidi and Budongo Forest. Here is the most prolific, iconic palace of rare species.

Game Drives in Murchison Falls National Park.

Get your cameras ready on a game drives in the park. The game drive in the park is done either in the morning or evening around the Buligi game tracks on the Northern bank with a ranger guide. The game drive explore you to savannah grasslands, woodland, acacia and Riverine vegetation and you will have an opportunity to spot such animals the elephant, lion, herds of buffaloes, Jackals, Uganda Kob and among others.

Hike to the top of the Falls.

Before the sun goes done, hike to the top of the Murchison Falls.  A rewarding ultimate hike after a boat trip which takes about 2 hours while sailing on rive Nile. Hiking top of the falls starts from the bottom and it takes you through the long hike of approximately 1 hour which characterized by an eternal struggle between rock and water. Boat Cruise.

Explore the fertile river on a boat safari along the mighty river. The Launch trip begins at Paraa landing area at the point where River Nile enters into Lake Albert and takes you to the bottom of the falls which last for 2 hours and it’s carried out on schedule. The air balloon safari carried out by the professional pilots whichcertified with International Air Transport Association (IATA). The balloon safari takes places in the morning. This is a perfect way to sight wildlife animals such as lions, leopard, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, Uganda Kob at a closer range.

Best time to visit Murchison Falls National Park.

The best to visit Murchison Falls National Parkcan be visited anytime throughout the year and game viewing is always good but it is best during the dry season December, January and February and June, July, August and Mid-September is the best time to visit the Park and is the peak season to visit Uganda National Parks and the low is March, April, May, October and November (Because of the heavy rains, some parts of the park become hardly accessible by floods.

How to get to the park.

By road, the park is approximately 6 hours from Kampalawith about 305 km. The Park has 5 gates which are accessible, they include Chobe, Wankar, Tangi, Bugungu, and Kichumbanyobo gate.

By flight, from Entebbe International Airport to Pakuba Airfield is located in Nwoya District, Chobe Airfield &Bugungu airstrip. Daily flights are on schedule with a morning and afternoon flights.
