Murchison Falls National Park is best known, though, for the most powerful Murchison falls waterfall in the world. Every second, the equivalent of 200 bathtubs full of water is forced through a gorge less than seven paces wide. The pressure is so great that the ground trembles around it.

Murchsion Falls

Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s largest national park, locally known as Kabalega National Park and is situated at the end of the Albertine Rift Valley. It measures approximately 3,840 square kilometres (1,480 sq mi). The park is hosting 76 species of mammals and 451 birds and a lot more…

The sprawling 3,840 square kilometers of Murchison Falls National Park, found 300-plus kilometers northwest of Kampala, make it Uganda’s largest protected natural area. It is also the oldest, originally established in 1952.

The wildlife is abundant: elephants, lions, giraffe, multiple species of antelope, hippos, Patas monkeys. If time is short, skip Queen Elizabeth NP and go to Murchison. The game drives here were the most productive, most exciting of any of our trip. Stay at Pakuba and you get a game drive enroute to your lodge.

It’s a must that you take the short hike to the top of Murchison Falls for the best views. The power and massive quantity of water flow is incredible. If you’re mobility is impaired, you still can see the massive falls with a little help along the mostly flat walk.

The river cruise to the base of the falls was also fun. You can drink a Nile beer on the Nile as you sight at the residents, Most of these include the elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and lots of birds. There are numerous park activities, not forgetting the spot fishing on the Nile famously known as a goot haven for the Nile perch.
